About healthy sleep
PRESENT DAY
Today's lifestyle brings with it a whole range of undesirable factors that have an unpleasant influence on our health and well-being. Sedenatry employment, lack of natural movement, monotonous activity, stress, incorrect seating in cars and at the workplace, all of these put a strain on the nerve system, kinetic mechanism and mainly on the spine.
Regeneration of the physical and mental energy occurs mainly during sleep. Its qualitative side is sadly not given enough attention. This is partly due to insufficient knowledge but in the main because we underestimate its importance. For all that, correct sleep and its quality create the foundations for health, contentment and high professional success. A person who is insufficiently rested cannot give their best professional performance and in some professions that can pose direct threats to your own life or to that of others.
We should not forget that we spend 1/3 of our lives in bed which means that underestimating this fact is a health hazard.

COMFORT
... only when a person feels pleasant and comfortable during their sleep, only then can sleep actually be for them a perfect rest, during which can their body and thoughts regenerate.
HEALTH
A person spends on average 1/3 of their life in bed. Quality sleep is equally important for us as a quality diet. Poor or insufficient sleep can decrease our immunity system thereby threatening our health.
NATURE
A person is an inseparable part of nature. A person and nature coexist in balanced symbiosis. Without nature a person is not a person. Even a mattress on which a person sleeps can return a person closer to nature.
BASIC CHARACTERISTICS
The company concentrates on the production of varing types and builds of health mattresses:
- spring - mattresses with BONELL or sleeved springs (SYSTÉM 1000)
- foam - mattresses from PUR, HR or LAZY-FOAM foams
- latex - zonal (PHYSIOSYSTEM) or non-zonal mattresses from natural or part synthetic latex (HYDROLATEX)
Only quality selected materials are used, from domestic suppliers or in the main from carefully selected foreign suppliers whose products have been rigorously tested in clinical laboratories and institutes.
All health mattresses made by MATERASSO must comply with and pass a whole range of critical criteria, mainly:
ORTHOPAEDIC - a mattress must provide perfect form copying of the body and an optimal physiological position during the whole time we sleep, whereby the spine should be perfectly perpendicular
ANTI-ALLERGENIC - natural materials used in the maximum degree, or materials that have been previously tested and proven to be non-irritant for those who have allergies
ANTI-BEDBUG - the materials used cannot be a breeding ground for bedbugs
BREATHEABLE - materials that provide thermo regulating properties are preferred, this aids in their ability to wick away moisture, have excellent airiness, and maintain a dry climate in the mattress and a constant body temperature.
LAMELLA GRIDS
The foundation for a quality sleep is the bed, its construction and above all the mattress. An inseparable part of every mattress should be a quality grid that serves as its base. The grid together with the mattress provides the correct physiological position for the body during sleep, relaxing the joints and vertebra. They have a marked contribution to improved airiness and maintenance of the mattress climate.
The MATERASSO range of products contains several types of grids:
- firm - grids from sturdy robust wood
- non-adjustable lamella grids
- manually adjustable lamella grids
- electrically adjustable lamella grids
- grids with a sprung plate system
Grids with fixed lamella serve as the recommended base under spring mattresses. They are made from sturdy robust wood.
Grids with pre-stressed lamella serve as the proprietary base for foam and latex mattresses. The lamella are made from layered wood.
The effectiveness of the spring of the lamella is to a great degree influenced by the method in which they are fixed, their capacity for movement (fixed or rotational), their spring capacity (with spring or without) which is also closely connected with the type of holder used (plastic or rubber).
A separate chapter deals with the grids that use the sprung plate system that permit point for point copying of the body shape in five DIRECTIONS.
MATTRESS and its COVER
During a night's sleep a healthy person sweats approx. 7dcl. of fluids which go through the bed linen into the mattress. This means that a mattress should be sufficiently airy and capable of absorbing this moisture and later on to steam it off. This offers a sleeper a perfect feeling of dry comfort during the whole night and sleep.
It is due to this that a mattress cover should fulfill the strictess hygienic criteria, eg. quality and easliy maintained materials that also offer protection against mould and bacteria, does not become a breeding ground for bedbugs, and prevents the build up of unpleasant smells. In addition to this the mattress cover material should be pleasant to the touch because we come into contact with it with our bare skin.
The standard material nowadays is a zippered removable cover made from quality materials that are easy to machine which also ensures quick maximum hygiene without the need for special cleaning methods.
All of these demands on a health mattress can be met in full by MATERASSO. We can also fit special waterproof covers or increased fire-proofing to the individual wished of customers.
